We pride ourselves here at KS Mechanical Services in Lido Beach NY in working efficiently and ethically. We engage in a thorough inspection, taking a full assessment of the condition of the units and any issues that may come up as a concern. All findings will be discussed so our customers have a full understanding of what the situation is and what their options are.
What a Service Inspection Looks Like
The servicing starts with a visual inspection. Here we will be going over the entire unit, looking for any immediate signs of damage or distress. Our KS Mechanical Services technicians will then test all controls and operations, ensuring that all safety devices and functions are performing properly. An inspection of the flue is done to ensure that there aren’t any obstructions and that it is attached properly. Our engineer will remove, clean and inspect all of the main components in the boiler to ensure everything is attached and performing properly with no visual damage or defect.
Additional checks are made including but not limited to inspecting and testing the pilot burner, flame sense device, thermostat, ventilation, flue, heating controls, electrical wiring connections, location of the boiler and the contents surrounding it, gas and pressure flow, seals, safety devices and overall boiler operation. All of these findings are recorded to keep for future reference.
Sign to Look Out for that there May Be a Problem
While you should be servicing your boiler once a year, there are some important signs to look out for that would indicate an absolutely necessary service call. Take a look at the flame. If it is flickering in an irregular pattern or if the flame is yellow that is an indication to call for a servicing. This usually means that your burner is not receiving enough air for complete combustion and must be looked at. If the pilot light is going out often then that may be an issue with the thermocouple. This is concerning because while the flame may be out, the gas is still being supplied. If there are new stains or smoke marks on the unit or on anything nearby the unit. This could be caused by misfiring of the unit when it starts back up and cause not only damage to items near the unit from the puffback but be an issue with the proper functioning overall. If the boiler overheats or refills regularly this could be a sign of the malfunctioning of the safety features, or if the water pressure drops there is potentially a leak somewhere.
Best Way to Prevent an Emergency Situation
The best way to avoid emergency repairs is to have your boiler serviced regularly. A yearly inspection and servicing will get you ahead of any potential problems and deal with them before they become an emergency. Servicing your boiler annually will not only keep you ahead of any issue but it will give you peace of mind as well. Handling any issue while the weather is still comfortable and tolerable is in your best interest. It will make any repairs that need to be done less challenging for you and your family. Relieve yourself of any worry and stress as the cold months approach by knowing that your boiler is ready to take on the chill. If you look after a loved one who doesn’t live with you or know of someone who lives alone and may be in a bad position if their boiler were to have an issue, maybe it’s best to either suggest they have a check done on their boiler or you schedule a checkup for them as well. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Lido Beach is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 2,897 at the 2010 census.
Lido Beach was developed by William H. Reynolds, in the early 1900s. The 39-year-old former state senator and real estate developer had already developed four Brooklyn neighborhoods (Bedford-Stuyvesant, Borough Park, Bensonhurst, and South Brownsville), as well as Coney Island’s Dreamland, the world’s largest amusement park. Reynolds also owned a theater and produced plays.
Beginning in 1906, he gathered investors and acquired the oceanfront from private owners and the rest of Long Beach island from the Town of Hempstead in 1907; he planned to build a boardwalk, homes, and hotels, and dredged Reynolds Channel to create the Long Beach, New York resort area. The dredging made the island more accessible to leisure boating.
The Lido Beach community was named after a villa in Venice, Italy. In 1929, after Reynolds was defeated for re-election as the Long Beach mayor, he turned his attention to the unincorporated area just east of the city and constructed the Moorish-style Lido Beach Hotel.
